21 ticketed for not wearing face masks

Police said 21 people were ticketed on Friday night in Woodbrook for failing to wear face coverings. 

The offence is contrary to current regulations under the Public Health Ordinance, which is in place to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 21 people, including a lawyer and a businesswoman, were ticketed by officers of the Port of Spain Division in an operation which took place between 7 and 11 pm.

It was supervised by Snr Sup Moore and Sup Ramjohn, and included Insp Russel Maraj, Sgt Toolaram, Cpl Modeste, and W-Cpl Francois.

The penalty for failing to wear a face mask, on the first offence, is $1,000.
