Local wholesale and retail giant, ANSA McAL has confirmed that one of their employees, who is usually based at the Chaguanas centre, has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
In a statement, ANSA said that the employee is actively receiving medical treatment and has not been at work since July 17.
ANSA says the employee came into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 on July 19 and fell ill on July 20. This means that the employee was not at work during the time of exposure nor when they began experiencing symptoms and as such the level of risk to coworkers is minimal.
Due to the nature of the case ANSA says that the Ministry of Health has confirmed that there is no need for further investigation or contact tracing at the facility.
The company is assuring all stakeholders that their facilities are clean and are maintaining all COVID-19 protocols.
