Billboard to honour Cardi B as Woman of the Year
Cardi B will be named Woman of the Year at Billboard's Women in Music event on December 10.
The "WAP" rapper, who is of Trinidadian and Dominican Republic parentage, will be among a number of prominent women - Jennifer Lopez, Dua Lipa, Dolly Parton, Jessie Reyez and Chloe x Halle - to be honoured at the event hosted by Teyana Taylor.
Jennifer Lopez will be honoured with this year's prestigious Icon Award for her impact on the music industry and the greater artistic community while Dua Lipa is set to receive the Powerhouse Award, given to an act whose music dominated streaming, sales and radio this year.
Dolly Parton will receive the 2020 Hitmaker Award and sisters Chloe x Halle will receive the Rising Star Award presented by Honda.
Jessie Reyez, a Canadian singer/songwriter will be honoured with the American Express Impact Award.
Brianna Agyemang and Jamila Thomas, the women behind #TheShowMustBePaused movement following the murder of George Floyd, will be honoured with the 2020 Executive of the Year Award.
Cardi B lashed out at her haters on Instagram while thanking Billboard for the honour.
"For you cry babies that say well she only has one song. Yeah, I got that song b***h, the one that sold the most, the one that streamed the most, the one that had Republicans crying on Fox News about it, the one that had a song that is about to be six-times platinum in three months and the one that got your grandmama popping her p***y on Tik Tok, yes b***h, that song," she said.
She spoke about her political advocacy, stating that she used her own money to meet with candidates to effect change.
"Eat it up," she said. "Eat it up with a spoon so y'all could get a mouthful."
The 15th annual Women in Music event will be streamed live HERE on December 10 at 8 pm.
