The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard said it intercepted a vessel with several large packages of what appeared to be marijuana.

In a statement dated June 28, 2020, the TTCG said officers were carrying out border security patrols around 2.34 am in the Gulf of Paria when they intercepted a vessel.

The TTCG said three non-nationals and two Trinidadians were aboard the vessel – searches revealed five large packages which contained a ‘green plant-like substance’.

The TTCG said the people, the items and the vessel were handed over to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Customs and Excise Division and the Immigration Division.

The TTCG said investigations are continuing as it continues to maintain border security during the COVID-19 pandemic.
