Coronovirus fears lead to cancellation of Tomorrowland Winter

Tomorrowland Winter is cancelled.

Organisers of the French edition of the Belgian EDM festival announced today that this year's event is cancelled.

The event was due to take place from March 14 to 21.

"In the beginning of February, the build-up of Tomorrowland Winter 2020 in Alpe d’Huez started. Today, it is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that the French Government has decided to cancel this year’s edition," they announced via their website.

The organisers said since Saturday they have been in close contact with the French Government about the impact of the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus) and they finally received their official decision.

"The French Government is taking drastic measures regarding the COVID-19 virus in France. Therefore they are enforcing the cancellation of large events, bringing together people from different nationalities on closed festival grounds and event locations," they said.

The cancellation of Tomorrowland follows the news that Ultra Music Festival in Miami may be cancelled due to the coronavirus.

An official announcement is expected tomorrow.
