COVID-19: All schools in T&T to remain closed until April 20
Created : 16 March 2020
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has announced that all schools and places of learning will remain closed until April 20.
Last Friday, he advised that schools would be closed for this week pending the outcome of other considerations.
Dr Rowley says during the closure, home-schooling and online schooling initiatives are encouraged to continue. “Children who are home, parents who are able to help their children with schoolwork, you do that,” he said.
An inter-ministerial committee has been set up to deliberate on the impact the closure will have on students.
The committee is expected to make a decision on whether the Secondary Entrance Assessment Exam (SEA) will be pushed to a later date. It was originally carded for April 2.
The PM says the committee should be able to provide an update by this Wednesday.
