Update: 22 more people contract COVID-19; active cases at 1,935

Twenty-two additional people have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Health's 6 pm clinical update, this has taken active cases to 1,935 which is still less than yesterday's 2039 after 179 people recovered earlier today. 

The number of samples which have tested positive to date stands at 4,463.

Seventy-four people have succumbed to the viral respiratory illness locally. 

Meanwhile, 1036 people have been discharged from public health facilities while 1,418 community patients have recovered.

In addition, 30,938 samples have been submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency, the UWI and other local sites for testing.

The Ministry of Health has revealed that two more people have died after battling with the novel coronavirus. Both patients were males with comorbidities. 

This brings the national death toll to 74. 

Another 55 people have tested positive for COVID-19. These patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the County Medical Officers of Health (CMOH). 

In lighter news, 179 people have recovered from the virus; 105 of these cases were discharged from public health facilities while the other 74 are recovered community cases. 

Currently, 121 COVID-19 positive patients are warded at hospital. Another 12 patients are at step-down facilities.
