Cunupia couple questioned after reports of bounced cheques

Officers of the Fraud Squad are questioning a Cunupia couple after allegations were made that they had issued over $300,000 in fraudulent cheques.

The two were held at their home on Thursday morning during a police operation which also involved officers of the Central Division, under the supervision of Snr Sup Simon.

The officers had received intelligence that the couple, who own a business in the community, had been procuring goods from other businesses with ‘bounced cheques’ and that when confronted they refused to give back any of the merchandise secured.

A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched.

The couple was due to be interviewed by police Friday (August 21), following which, advice will be sought on what charges, if any, should be levied against them.
