Decibel is on with a Drive-in cinema and DJ event

This year's Republic Bank Decibel Arts and Entertainment Festival will be a mix of virtual and live events.

The schedule includes a Drive-in cinema and a live DJ event.

The organisers of the annual youth event said while they contemplated cancelling the event, the very premise of what they do is meant to be game-changing and innovative.
"In light of this thought process, 2020 shall mark our seventh year of producing the Republic Bank Decibel Entertainment Festival ( It will run from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5 and will feature a series of events – some live and some pre-recorded, over the weekend period. Additionally, our plans are to work with communities, orphanages, and NGOs, as our team’s objective is to give something back in this time of crisis," the committee said in a press release.
A line up of noteworthy events will take place over the weekend and range from online workshops to gaming competitions to interactive experiences like escape rooms and virtual scare-house activations.

Two major productions will be a live DJ event titled DEF Decades on Friday from 8 pm to 12 am featuring DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Private Ryan, as well as a cast of other amazing DJs such as Gio, Lila, Ana, and Top Cat (out of South Beach), as well as the hosting of a Drive-In cinema (DEFLIX) on the grounds of Queen's Hall on Saturday, July 4 and 5 in partnership with the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival, the United Nations and Queen's Hall, among many others.

All the films to be screened were made locally or within the Caribbean.

Each ticket is priced at $300 per screening and is good for a carload of up to five people. Showtimes are 6 pm and 8 pm respectively.(Check for more details).

All rules and regulations to ensure the proper health regulations and requirements will be enforced.
"Our goal is to raise proceeds for The University of the West Indies Global Giving programme to support student scholarships, and highlight initiatives that can benefit families over the next month that require assistance in their children's education. One can help by either contributing to the cause online, sponsoring tickets for organisations to attend or simply attending with your family or loved ones," the release said.
