Digicel changes network identifier during COVID-19
Hundreds of thousands of Digicel mobile users are now seeing ‘Stay Safe’ at the top of their screens as the company has changed its network identifier in light of COVID-19.
“Digicel has been supporting the Government of Trinidad and Tobago in their efforts to keep us safe during this time and have been sharing the important information coming from the Ministry of Health. Changing our network identifier will serve as a constant reminder to all of our customers, that they should practice the various safety measures outlined by the Ministry,” comments Shakka Subero- Digicel Head of Government.
Even though most handsets would automatically make the switch and display the new identifier at the top of the screen, Digicel customers who are not yet seeing ‘Stay Safe’ can simply try restarting their handsets or going to the mobile network settings and searching manually.
Customers are reminded however that handsets select the network’s name to display on the home screen from either the SIM card or network broadcast. This varies based on the handset and for some, they would be unable to access the change.
