A contingent from the United National Congress (UNC) on Friday met with and discussed for the second time, several key election issues with the Election and Boundaries Commission (EBC).

In a statement, the UNC said the meeting was held once again at the request of the party and is the first follow up to a previous meeting held on June 12.

It added that the team raised several key issues ranging from the adjusted procedures in light of COVID-19 and the treatment of citizens who are in quarantine to be treated as special voters.

According to the statement, the team also discussed the new guidelines of wearing a mask and sanitising before voting, although electors without a mask cannot be prevented from voting.

The UNC said the team was also informed of a request by the EBC for an increased level of police officers to enforce the social distancing rules on election day.

It said the intention by the EBC to review all polling stations to ensure the locations are large enough to accommodate voters and election day staff while following the social distancing guidelines was also raised.
