Elderly woman homeless after fire

A 76-year-old woman is homeless following a fire in Petit Bourg.

Fire officers are expected to return to the scene to determine what caused the blaze.

While investigators believe the fire may have been sparked by an electrical fault, it has yet to be confirmed.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

The incident took place at about 1.30 pm on Friday along Upper Bushe Street, Petit Bourg.

The woman and another person were at home when they observed smoke coming from the ground floor of the two-storey building.

An alarm was raised and the occupants of the building were evacuated.

The fire services were notified and a unit from the San Juan Fire Station under the supervision of FSSO Meade responded.
