Embassy urges citizens seeking to return to US to complete online form

The United States Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to provide assistance to those US citizens affected by the suspension of international flights and border closures.

In a statement on Friday, it urged US citizens interested in returning to the United States to visit its website, www.tt.usembassy.gov, to complete the Repatriation Assistance Form located in the March 26 alert on the COVID-19 page.

Persons who have questions are also asked to send an email with the subject line, 'Return Travel to the United States' to PortofSpainUSCitizen@state.gov.

The Embassy said persons must include the following information for each US citizen or US legal permanent resident guardian accompanying minor children:

• Full name as it appears on passport

• Citizenship

• Passport Number

• Date of Birth

• Date of passport issuance and expiration

The Embassy added that it will contact persons as options become available and provide further instructions at that time.

Meanwhile, it is urging all US citizens in Trinidad and Tobago to register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at www.step.state.gov.

It said STEP allows the Embassy to contact persons in an emergency and is a free service giving automatic Travel Warnings and Travel Alerts.
