Farmer held with ammo in car; police searching for gun

A 30-year-old farmer is in police custody after he was held with six rounds of .38mm special ammunition in Manzanilla
The suspect was held yesterday during a road block exercise along the Manzanilla/Mayaro Road.
A team of officers from the Eastern Division, led by Snr Sup Aguilal, received information which led them to the community.
Road block operations were conducted between 9am and 1pm.
During the operation, police had cause to intercept a vehicle, after its driver was seen throwing an object out of the car. Upon being searched, six rounds of ammunition were found on the floor of the driver’s seat of the car.
As a result, the suspect was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
Up to late last night searches were being conducted in the community as police suspect that the driver may have thrown out a .38 revolver.
