A female 'trailblazer' within the supermarket industry has been given the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago’s (SATT) Long Service Award for her contributions.

In a statement issued today, the Association said Tara Baldah will be given the award this year.

The Association said in 1986, Baldah, in partnership with her brother Seeram Baldah, started Eaton

Supermarket on Mausica Road, D’Abadie.

Eaton Supermarket later moved to Eastern Main Road, D’Abadie. Sadly, Mr Baldah subsequently passed away in March 2020.

The Association said it is also coincidental that the announcement of this award last evening, coincided with UNDP’s Women Entrepreneurship Day.

‘Ms Baldah was a trailblazer as a female proprietor in the Supermarket Industry and SATT salutes her effort, not only in the development of this sector but the Association as well.’

The Association said the 26th Annual Awards and Christmas Show will broadcast live on Saturday, December 12 from 7:30 pm.
