Five men are expected to appear before a Port of Spain magistrate today, after they were held at a party in St James.

According to police reports, at about 6 am on Sunday, officers received information of a party that was ongoing at Dibe Road in St James.

A team of officers from the Western Division Task Force was dispatched to the scene.

When officers arrived, they observed a group of at least 20 people.

The numbers were in contravention of the Public Health Ordinance as it pertains to gatherings. Police also observed that those were not wearing masks or social distancing.

They asked the group to disperse, however, one man confronted the officers for their decision and allegedly begun cursing at them.

The officers made attempts to arrest the individual, but four men attempted to intervene and obstruct the officers from detaining the suspect.

As a result, all five were taken into custody. They were charged and are expected to appear before the courts today.
