Fruit vendor chopped to death in Freeport

Police are still investigating the death of a fruit vendor in Freeport on Tuesday evening after he was chopped to death.

The incident took place around 6.30 pm along Calcutta Road #2, Freeport.

Police said 52-year-old Timothy St Cyr was selling fruits near his stall, when he was approached by a man who was armed with a cutlass.

The assailant attacked the vendor, before entering a vehicle which was parked nearby, which he used to flee the scene.

The victim succumbed to his wounds.

St Cyr, also known as “Rastaman Motty”, was well-known in the community as he sold his fruit there for the last 20 years.
