There is work to be done to close the gap in getting information to the public.

So said Communications Minister Donna Cox during a meeting with representatives of the Trinidad and Tobago Publishers & Broadcasters Association (TTPBA) at the Communications Ministry on Monday.

Recognising the need for greater collaboration between the Association and the Government, the Minister said Government is interested in maintaining good relations with the media and ensure that everyone is treated fairly.

TTPBA President Kiran Maharaj agreed that there was a need for media houses to share information which is of public interest, at the same time noting that the media is operating in a rapidly changing environment.

The Association welcomed closer collaboration with the Ministry and committed to keeping the lines of communication open.

The TTPBA also promised to send a number of proposals to the Minister.

The Minister said she is confident that they will work in the interest of the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

Cox restated Government’s commitment to meaningful partnerships with the media during the meeting.
