Health Minister visits Couva Hospital

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh visited members of staff at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility and provided words of encouragement to frontline staff.

The Health Ministry said in a statement today that Deyalsingh toured some of the areas of the facility and thanked the nurses and doctors on staff for their service and ongoing contributions to the COVID-19 response.

After the tour, the Minister met with key members of the clinical team including: Dr. Rheana Sieunarine, Dr. Kevin Khan-Kernahan, Dr. Chariande Gardener, Head Nurse Patrice Peters as well as Marlon Mason, General Manager Operations for Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex and Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility.

The Minister updated the team on the status of the national COVID-19 strategy and of the management of the disease in Trinidad and Tobago.

He offered words of encouragement to the team and indicated that nationally “we are starting to see, hopefully, the top of the bell curve”.

Discussions also centred on matters which impact the delivery of critical care services at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility including additions to the human resource complement in specific speciality areas.
