Heavy rainfall, gusty winds, street flooding reported across T&T

There have been reports of heavy rainfall, gusty winds, thunder and street flooding across several parts of the country.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government said its Disaster Management Units (DMUs) across the 14 Municipal Corporations have been activated and are ready to assist.

The Ministry said reports from its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers indicate that the following areas have been experiencing heavy rainfall, gusty winds and in some cases street flooding:

• Arima (heavy rainfall)

• Diego Martin (heavy rainfall)

• Penal/Debe (street flooding)

• Barrackpore (street flooding/no electricity)

• Trincity (heavy rainfall)

• Longdenville (heavy rainfall/street flooding)

• Princes Town (heavy rainfall)

• Claxton Bay (heavy rainfall)

The Ministry is advising members of the public to be cautious when traversing these areas.
