Hello yes. Hello no: Social media reacts to Kes' planned Apple ad suit

HELLO, REMI, YOU'RE BEING SUED: Kes the Band management to take legal action against American singer Remi Wolf over song that 'sounds similar' to group's 2018 hit Hello.

HELLO, REMI, YOU'RE BEING SUED: Kes the Band management to take legal action against American singer Remi Wolf over song that 'sounds similar' to group's 2018 hit Hello.

The court of social media is split on whether Kes the Band (KTB) has a case after the group's management announced plans to sue American singer, Remi Wolf, over her song 'Hello, Hello, Hello'.

According to KTB's management, the song — which was featured in an Apple iPhone 12 online ad — sounds similar to the Trini group's 2018 hit 'Hello'.

The social media responses were swift as users reacted with memes of all sorts and comments either for or against the planned lawsuit.

"Just listened to both. Other than the word 'hello' being sung 3 times in succession, totally different melodies and music. No correlation. I doubt Kes the Band owns the rights to “hello” in succession. Waste of a case," Loop News reader Merrill Gayadeen commented.

"Do not sound the same to me, but then again, What the hell I know about music," wrote Alice Dick-Roberts while adding a GIF.

Brenda A Jennings rubbished the planned action asking: "Are you going to Sue me when I answer my phone and don't hear too well and I say hello, hello, hello?"

"I call BS!...I ent hear squat!...Kees reaching dey, I didn't look for him dey but then is 2020 eh!...expect the unexpected," Candice Mootoo-Adams posted.

"Kees," Vjay Nickey Seecharan wrote, "somebody gassing you up for nothing. The ad doesn’t even sound close to your song. You are just throwing away money in legal fees."

"Now i fraid to answer my phone saying 'Hello,' I might get a lawsuit from less 😐😐😐," Sanatam Varoon Ramjataan said.

The announcement was also greeted with support on both Facebook and Twitter.

"I thought about Kes the first time I heard the ad," Nikihia Samuel noted.

"I’ve been saying dat for the last 2 weeks, Terrence Alexander said, "the 'Hello, Hello, Hello' is too coincidental."

"They should have just gone with Kes song his is better anyway," Rachel Leex advised.

Shiva Ward responded to the news: "Congratulations Kes the Band, you are rich."
