Independent Liberal Party (ILP) political leader and former Chaguanas West MP Jack Warner has announced that he will be contesting the August 10 General Election.

In a statement on Thursday, the ILP said Warner will contest the Lopinot/Bon Air West seat.

It said he will host a media conference at 3 pm at his constituency office in Arouca on Friday, where he will address "his reasons for choosing to return to electoral politics."

Warner served as a Government Minister under the former People's Patnership administration.

On April 26, 2013, he resigned as the Member of Parliament for Chaguanas West.

Warner was then re-elected as Chaguanas West MP, but this time as a member of the Independent Liberal Party, on July 29, 2013.
