Man hospitalised after Tobago shooting

Police said a man was warded at the Scarborough General Hospital following a shooting on Saturday night in Mt Irvine, Tobago.

According to reports, the shooting took place around 11.00 pm on Saturday night along Jacamar Drive, Mt Irvine.

The victim told police that he was entering his car, having left a party when he was confronted by a man who was armed with a firearm.

The man announced a hold-up and attempted to relieve the victim of his cash and valuables.

The victim drove a short distance away, hitting two parked cars in his bid to escape.

He then ran a short distance away, but he was pursued by the gunman, who shot him in his leg.

The gunman then fled the scene.

The injured man was rushed for medical treatment and remained warded up to Sunday morning.
