Man shot and killed at Petit Valley 'COVID party'

A  22-year-old man is dead following a shooting on Sunday morning in Petit Valley.

Police identified the deceased as Jessie Mascall and said according to his identification card, Mascall would have celebrated his 23rd birthday on Monday. 

According to police reports, just after midnight around 12.30 am, officers got a report of a ‘COVID party’ along Ravine Road.

The officers arrived at the location and observed a group of persons had assembled and were drinking alcohol.

The officers warned the group and ordered persons to go home.

The group, police said, adhered the advice and dispersed. 

Ten minutes later, however, police got a report of gunshots at the same address.

Upon arriving, they observed the body of a man lying in a pool of blood in a track off the roadway.

Man shot in Diego Martin

In an unrelated incident, a man was taken to hospital after a shooting in Diego Martin on Sunday morning.

According to police reports, around 4.10 am residents of Bamboo Lane, Waterwheel Road, Diego Martin, heard several loud explosions.

Upon investigating, they found a man bleeding from gunshot injuries.

The police were notified and the wounded man was taken to the St James hospital, where he was treated.

An operation was launched in the community immediately following the incident, and a group of men who are known to the police were held and are aiding with enquiries.
