Man shot by police during confrontation at Sando house

A 22-year-old man is currently nursing gunshot injuries following a confrontation with a police officer in San Fernando on Monday morning.

The incident allegedly took place around 4.30 am along Pecan Avenue, Union Hall, San Fernando.

Officers were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at the time.

When they arrived at the scene, they observed the suspect holding a knife and threatening people in the house.

Officers called on the suspect to put down the weapon, however, he reportedly turned on the lawmen in a threatening manner.

The officers drew their weapons and shot at the suspect, hitting him on his leg and shoulder.

The suspect dropped the weapon – which was seized by the officers.

The injured man was then rushed for medical treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital, where he remains warded.
