Man surrenders to police after slitting two people’s throats

A man suspected of slashing the throats of two people is now custody after surrendering at the Arima Polic Station.

The suspect was hanging out with his victims last Thursday when he turned violent and slashed their throats.

According to police reports, PCs Thomas and Lajenesse were on mobile patrol when they responded to a report of wounding at Calvary Hill, Arima.

Upon their arrival, one of the victims — a 25-year-old woman of Evergreen, Carapo — said she and a friend were liming with a 24-year-old man, who is also from Carapo at around 9:30pm.

At some point, the 24-year-old man reportedly slit the woman's throat and that of her friend's before escaping in a silver motor vehicle.

The victims were taken to the Arima Health Facility where they were treated then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

At 11pm that same day, the suspect walked into the Arima Police Station and surrendered. He was arrested for wounding with intent.
