The Ministry of Works and Transport, with support from the Ministry of Finance, distributed fuel support grants at their headquarters on Friday.

In a brief ceremony, Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan and his permanent secretary gave out the cheques to registered maxi taxi owners. Each cheque was valued at $2,000.

The government spent a total of $10 million on this initiative.

It comes after government mandated drivers to operate at half capacity when plying their trade on the nation’s roads in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.
