The yellow, highlighted area is set to be affected by adverse weather conditions from Thursday to Friday morning.

The Meteorological Service of Trinidad and Tobago has advised that a Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert will take effect from 5am on Thursday, October 1. It’s expected to last until 8am on Friday, October 2.

In a statement, the Met Office explained that the bout of weather stems from an active Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

The ITCZ and the passage of a tropical wave is expected to create very unstable conditions over Trinidad and Tobago.

As such, periods of showers and rain are likely in most areas and occasional thunderstorm activity can be expected as well. Accompanying this shower activity will be a surge of winds in the low levels which will promote very gusty conditions, particularly during heavy showers and thunderstorms.

The public is advised to monitor weather conditions and official updates.
