Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has announced that the Finance Minister, Colm Imbert, will be delivering the mid-year budget review on Friday, June 12.
The presentation, which is usually held in April, will be read in the Parliament.
Over the last few weeks, opposition members including leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar, slammed the government for delaying the review.
The mid-year budget review is usually an update on the trajectory slated for the country’s finances. It was first introduced in 2016 since the new administration came into office in September 2015, mere weeks before the actual budget was due.
This year, the review will have particular attention placed on it as a result of unexpected spending coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic and fluctuation of oil prices.
