Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, has announced that the 100 students who arrived in Trinidad and Tobago from the University of the West Indies’ (UWI) Mona Campus, have completed their quarantine time and have tested negative twice for COVID-19.

As a result, they will be allowed to go home today.

The Minister made the announcement in today’s virtual press briefing.

“I think we can look forward, I am advised by Dr Mariam Richards, that those 100 students may be going home between 2 and 4 pm today so that’s a very positive development for those students and their families,” he said.

The 46 students who came in from UWI’s Cave Hill Campus will have to wait a bit longer for their freedom. Minister Deyalsingh said that they’ll have their second swabs done today and if all goes well, they’ll be on their way home in the coming days.
