Moonilal on Young: Time to go
Member of Parliament for Oropouche East, Dr Roodal Moonilal, is calling for the immediate resignation of Minister of National Security, Stuart Young.
The call comes after US Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Joseph Mondello, issued a brief statement outlining that he did, in fact, make reference to the Rio Treaty of 1947 during a conversation with the Minister last week. Young, in the Senate on Wednesday, said that ‘there was no raising of the breach of any treaty’ in the same conversation.
Dr Moonilal says the contradiction between the two men raises further questions about what exactly happened in the meeting with Venezuelan Vice President, Delcy Rodriguez.
“This has to be the end of this scandal; Stuart Young must remove himself as the Minister of National Security and he must be removed from public life in Trinidad and Tobago. He has been proven to be a liar time after time,” Moonilal said.
The Opposition MP says that Young should be ashamed to have the US Ambassador feeling the need to break his silence on the matter, despite having the opportunity to clear the air. Moonilal says it’s now more important than ever that the details of the meeting be properly disclosed.
