NIB: Salary Relief Grant not yet available
The Salary Relief Grant is currently unavailable through the National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT).
This, as NIBTT is yet to receive information on the new grant facility announced at a media conference on Monday.
The $1,500 monthly grant, announced by Finance Minister Colm Imbert, will be available to citizens whose income has been affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Imbert said the grant will be made available through NIBTT for up to three months.
The management of the NIBTT has advised that once the grant facility is available and operationalised, further public communication will follow.
It said while it understands customers needs given the current circumstances, the grant is not available at this time.
It's urging customers to stay away from its offices to enquire about this facility, as it said large gatherings pose a serious risk to employees and customers alike.
Further, NIBTT is conducting essential services only at its locations from Wednesday, until further notice in observation of medical advice on social distancing.
Customers are advised to visit Service Centres only if they must make contribution payments by cash, or to apply for a funeral grant.
NIBTT advised that a drop-box service will apply for contribution payments by cheque, all other claim forms, and social welfare forms only. All submissions in the Dropbox must be sealed in envelopes.
Customers can reach NIBTT via its new temporary numbers:
Customers can also contact the NIBTT at 625-4NIS, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or log on to the website at www.nibtt.net for more information or to access the online payment facility.
NIBTT urged customers to take personal responsibility to protect themselves, their families and other loved ones against the spread of COVID-19.
