No bail for trio charged with kidnapping, assault

Three men have appeared virtually before the Arima Magistrates' Court charged with kidnapping and assault by beating.

Thirty-one-year-old Kevin Wolfe of La Horquetta along with 21-year-old Matthew Ceasar and 29-year-old Allasafe Huggins both of Morvant faced judge Cheron Raphael on Thursday.

They were remanded and are scheduled to reappear on November 26.

According to a statement by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), around 1:30 pm on Tuesday three vehicles pulled alongside a man who was standing along Antigua Road, Wallerfield.

Several people exited the car, two of whom he recognised.

The man said he was asked about the money he allegedly owed to the men. He said he was beaten when he informed them that he didn’t know anything about it.

Officers from the Northern Division Task Force (NDTF) Area East, the Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and a police motorcyclist attached to Highway Patrol responded to a report of the incident.

The vehicle was intercepted on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in Mausica.

The victim was found in the vehicle and as taken to the Arima Hospital for medical attention while the three suspects were arrested and taken to the Arima Police Station.
