Nutrien shuts down one of four ammonia plants

The country's largest ammonia producer, Nutrien Limited has shut down one of its four ammonia plants at Point Lisas.

In a statement on Tuesday, it said the temporary shutdown is in response to the current market price of ammonia.

Nutrien said the plant has an annual ammonia capacity of 600, 000 metric tonnes per year.

It said the other three plants and one urea facility at the site will continue to operate as normal.

The company added that it expects the shutdown to last for a minimum of three months.

Nutrien is the world's largest provider of crop inputs and services with operations and investments in 14 countries.
