Money business: A small monkey perched at the top shelf in Port of Spain General Hospital
The North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) is confirming that a small monkey was found on the compound of the Port of Spain General Hospital on Friday, but they are refuting claims that a large snake was also retrieved.
In a media release today, the NWRHA says that as soon as staff members became aware of the monkey’s presence in one of the hospital’s departments, officials from the Emperor Valley Zoo were contacted.
They say the area was subsequently fully sanitized and deemed fit for resumption of operations.
The Authority categorically denies that a snake was also found on the hospital’s compound. They call the allegation ‘false, misleading and malicious’.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
