Penny gets the nod in Arima

Trinidad and Tobago’s Ambassador to the United Nations and longtime member of the People’s National Movement (PNM), Penelope Beckles will once again be contesting the Arima constituency.

After being granted an exemption to return to T&T, Beckles, despite still being in quarantine, was able to be screened by party executives electronically.

She beat out sitting MP and Minister of Education, Anthony Garcia and Hillary Bernard for the spot. Beckles previously represented Arima under the Patrick Manning administration.

She also famously went up against Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley for the party’s leadership in one of their last internal elections.
