The Women’s League of the People’s National Movement (PNM) has full confidence in the abilities of National Security Minister Stuart Young.
Lauding the Minister as a “man of worth, a man of veracity, and a man in whom we are all well pleased”, the Women’s League endorsed him as a person of integrity.
Taking note of calls for the Minister’s resignation in lieu of the US Ambassador’s statement on this country’s violation of the Rio Treaty, the Women’s League suggested that Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar instead channel her energy towards “spring cleaning the UNC cupboards which are jam-packed with skeletons”.
Acknowledging “similarly fanatical” newspaper editorials calling for the Minister’s removal, the League noted with gratitude that it is the Prime Minister not the media who determines positions in the Cabinet.
Below is the full statement from the PNM Women’s League:
The National Women’s League of the People’s National Movement unequivocally supports the Minister of National Security, the Honourable Member for Port of Spain North/ St. Ann’s West Stuart Young.
The League wants to go on record endorsing Minister Young as a person of integrity.
Notwithstanding the numerous attacks he has faced in the public domain by Opposition forces MP Young continues to work effectively and efficiently.
The League states that Minister Young understands importance of keeping the citizens aware and informed.
Unlike many of his critics, the League notes he is honest, reliable, and willingly works the long hours needed for his senior position.
Whilst the National Women’s Leagues understands the Opposition Leader’s obsession with the Minister however the League strongly suggests that such energy be better channelled towards spring cleaning the UNC cupboards which are jam packed with skeletons.
As for the segments of the Media who are similarly fanatical the League notes with gratitude that it is the Prime Minister not the Media who determines positions in the cabinet.
The League has full confidence in our Minister of National Security, a man of worth, a man of veracity, and a man in whom we are all well pleased.
