Point Fortin man killed while family slept

A 21-year-old man was shot dead on Monday morning in Point Fortin.

The deceased has been identified as Kevon Bernard of Uriah Butler Extension, New Village.

Bernard, police said, was killed in the same home as his wife and their two young children - aged three and 10 months.

The rest of the family was not harmed.

According to police reports, around 3.45 am, gunmen broke into the home and found Bernard.

They shot him to the head, and then fled the scene.

Two vehicles, a gold Nissan Almera and a white Nissan B15 were seen driving away.

Police found a .38mm revolver at the scene, as well as a spent 9mm shell.

Based on the shell, police suspect that the weapon belonged to Bernard and he was killed before he could use it to defend himself.
