Police look on as a fire builds on marijuana plants destroyed in an operation.

Over 3,000 fully grown marijuana trees were destroyed yesterday afternoon in Beetham Gardens. An estimated 1,000 seedlings were also found and destroyed. 

The operation took place between 10 am and 3 pm on Monday and was conducted by officers of the Port of Spain Division under the supervisions of Snr Sup Moore and Sup Ruben. 

Officers received intelligence which led them to a bushy area off the Beetham Highway in the vicinity of VMCOTT. 

The field, and a makeshift camp, was found just off the highway, and the drugs were catalogued and destroyed. 

The operation also included ASP Sooker, Insp Superville, Sgt Bharath, Cpl Guerra, Cpl Arthur, Cpl Ramjattan and others. 

No arrests were made.
