Police: Driver involved in fatal accident had alcohol in system
Police said a driver who is being questioned after an accident which left a 66-year-old man dead, was over the legal alcohol limit.
Loop News was told the 29-year-old man is being questioned following the death of 66-year-old Jonas Dukhedin-Lalla, 66, of S.S Erin Road, Siparia.
The suspect, of Beach Road, Palo Seco, was administered a breathalyser test shortly after the accident.
He gave a reading of 71 microgrammes per 100 millilitre of breath(µg/100mL). The legal limit in this country is 35µg/100mL.
As a result, he was arrested and immediately taken into custody.
According to reports, around 5:30 pm on Friday, Lalla was standing on the pavement when he was struck by a grey Toyota Corolla Wagon.
The driver fled the scene but was later arrested near his home, as Lalla’s daughter was able to give police descriptions of the vehicle and the driver.
The victim was taken to hospital where he died.
