Police find close to one kilo of drugs in Las Cuevas

Police said almost a kilogramme of marijana was found and seized during an anti-crime exercise in Las Cuevas.

The drug, which weighed an estimated 800 grammes, was found and seized at the back of an abandoned house at St. Michael’s Village, on Tuesday afternoon.

No one was arrested in connection with the find, however, investigations are ongoing with the aim of identifying who the drugs would have belonged to, and to whom it would have been sold to.

Officers of the North Eastern Division(NED), in keeping with the mandate by Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith, conducted drug eradication exercises in Las Cuevas Village, which targeted several known communities, where searches were conducted and warrants were executed.

The operation was spearheaded by Snr Supt Maharaj, W/Ag/Supt Maynard-Wilson, Ag/Supt Alexander and Ag/ASP Pariman, coordinated by Ag/Insp Ramsingh, supervised by Sgt Bharath and Ag/Sgt Mitchell and included members of NED Task Force, NED Anti-Gang Unit, Santa Cruz CID, Morvant CID and K9 Unit.
