Police investigating attempted kidnapping report

Police are investigating a report of attempted kidnapping in San Fernando.

According to police reports, at about 7pm on Saturday, officers from the San Fernando Municipal police were on patrol along Lady Hailes Avenue, when they observed two men running out of some bushes.

The hands of one of the men appeared have his hand bound behind his back with tie straps.

The officers called on the men to stop, which they did. As they got closer, the police noticed that one of the men was carrying a shotgun.

The men, both of which had cuts and bruises about their bodies, told police that they had been robbed by a group of persons at gunpoint, who then attempted to kidnap them.

However, the two friends fought back. They managed to secure the weapon and flee the scene.

The weapon was handed over to the police and crime scene investigators examined the scene where the men were held.

A search for the assailants was also conducted but no one was found. The two men were then taken for medical examination.

They are still said to be aiding police with their inquiries.
