Police shoot man in El Socorro
A 21-year-old man is warded at hospital after he was shot by police on Saturday morning.
He has been identified as Berral Murrien of Ninth Street, Sixth Avenue Malick, Barataria.
According to police reports, around 2am officers were on patrol along Jojo Lane, El Socorro, when they observed a group of men standing in the roadway.
Police said the suspect pulled out an object resembling a firearm and pointed it in the direction of the approaching police vehicle.
One of the officers discharged three rounds from his firearm in the direction of the suspect.
The suspect fell to the ground.
The officers then alighted from the vehicle and observed the suspect suffering from wounds to his head and chest area.
The man was taken to hospital, where he is said to be in a stable condition.
One black colored object resembling that of a firearm and one magazine were recovered.
