Police: Woman found dead in car park had been sexually assaulted

Police said autopsy results for a woman found dead in a car park in Port of Spain were inconclusive but there was evidence that she had been sexually assaulted.

Loop News was told that the victim was identified as Camille Hernandez, of Maracas, St Joseph.

Police said foul play is suspected but due to the autopsy being inconclusive, there is as yet no official cause of death.

Police said the body bore marks of violence and there was evidence of sexual assault.

The post mortem was performed this week by Dr Burris at the Forensic Science Center in Federation Park.

Police were told that due to the state of decomposition, a definitive cause of death could not be given. Tissue samples and blood samples from the deceased were secured for further testing, and the body has since been released to relatives.

Hernandez was discovered dead in a car park along Henry Street, Port of Spain, on Friday morning.

Officers of the Region I Homicide Bureau of Investigations are continuing enquiries into this incident.

More on this as it becomes available.
