As the August 10 General Election fast approaches, some residents in the Mayaro constituency have expressed dissatisfaction with a number of issues.

An unreliable water supply, bad roads, infrastructural problems, lack of representation, flooding and unemployment are some of the issues facing the community of Mayaro.

Loop News visited the area and spoke with some residents about the upcoming election.

 

The United National Congress (UNC) has secured the Mayaro seat in the last two General Elections.

Three candidates are vying to contest the Mayaro seat in the August 10 election - Incumbent MP Rushton Paray, People's National Movement candidate Sankar "Bunny" Mahabirsingh and Progressive Empowerment Party candidate Sterling Lee Ha.

Paray secured 56.9 percent of the votes in the 2015 election.

He secured 11,730 votes, while the PNM's Clarence Rambharat received 8,836 votes.
