Scotiabank 5K goes virtual
This year, adapting to the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Foundation’s annual flagship event to raise breast cancer awareness will be held online.
The event, usually held as a 5K run/ walk around the Queen’s Park Savannah, takes on a fully virtual format this year.
It’s now open to everyone - men, women, children, grandparents and people with limited mobility.
And, there’s no need to register because participation is free.
You can now participate from the comfort and safety of your living room, garage, home gym or even your back yard with instructors Kaylan Bartholomew (Yoga), Nadia and Andy (Zumba), Jenna Camacho (Personal Trainer) and Priya Gomes (Occupational Therapist). Join the live stream on Instagram @scotiatt, Facebook or YouTube.
The SWABC wraps up Breast Cancer Awareness Month on October 31 from 3pm to 6pm, via live stream with four, 30 minute exercise segments: Yoga, Zumba, High Intensity Interval Training and Limited Mobility (modified exercises for persons with disabilities).
As Scotiabank continues to do its part to observe social distancing protocols and reduce touch points, there won’t be medals or goodie bags distributed this year, nor are there are commemorative t-shirts on sale.
The event will also feature a 30-minute entertainment segment by DJ Private Ryan - Press Play Quarantine Vibes. DJ Ana will provide music for the exercise segments.
Donations are welcome. Find out more on how you can donate, here.
The Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Foundation will match all funds contributed and the total amount will be donated to this year’s beneficiary: The Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society.
