Soldier held for driving without insurance

A 25-year-old member of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) was held during a police operation on Thursday in the North Eastern Division.

The soldier, who is from Fishing Village, Maracas Bay, was detained during a routine road block exercise for driving a vehicle without a certificate of insurance.

Another man, 26, from Paradise Heights in Morvant, was detained for similar offences.

The two were held during a police exercise which took place in Santa Cruz, San Juan, and Morvant between 10am and 2pm on Thursday.

It was coordinated by Snr Supt Maharaj, Supt Maynard Wilson, Supt Alexander, ASP Parryman, and included Insp Ramsingh, Sgt Bharath, Sgt Benjamin,  as well as various other officers from the division.

A total of 34 fixed penalty tickets were issued to motorists for various offences, including driving defective vehicles, and driving without seatbelts.
