Stay pampered while you stay at home: Mini-facial

It’s been two months now since non-essential businesses closed their doors to the public, all in an effort to help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease in the country.

One of the areas where some have felt it the hardest though is with the closure of businesses within the beauty industry.

For those of us accustomed to regular services, there have been no professional waxes, pedicures, manicures, facials or haircuts given since March 30, and boy, does it show.

Loop News reached out to Dana Tuitt, master aesthetician and owner of Sinnamon Skin Klinik and Rejuvenation Centre, to get some advice on how we can maintain our beauty routines while we stay at home and stay safe.

The spa is very much closed to the public at this time, but Dana was kind enough to let us use the space for this segment.

In this video, Dana guides us through a proper skincare regimen and mini-facial and shares her wealth of knowledge on how best to keep your skin looking and feeling refreshed and healthy.

In the video, we use a range of products provided by Salon Essentials including products from La Roche-Posay and Vichy.

The Toleriane Purifying Foaming Facial Wash is super gentle and perfect for anyone with skin that is more sensitive. The cleanser lathers generously so a little bit goes a long way with this product. Even though it’s gentle it’s also potent enough to remove face and eye makeup, especially if you choose to double cleanse.

The next product used was a personal favourite of ours – the Vichy Clarifying Charcoal Mask. This particular mask, besides the general purifying and pore-shrinking benefits of charcoal, is packed with minerals in Vichy’s 15 Mineral-Rich Thermal Water, which serves as the base for all of their products.

Next up, the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Face Mist doubles as a toner because of the mineral-rich base and its antioxidant properties. It is a refreshing step between products and helps to restore the skin’s PH balance after cleansing. You can also use this product as a refreshing face mist throughout the day.

If your skin is a bit more on the dry side, then you will love the Vichy Minéral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Face Moisturizer. The minimalist formulation is safe and effective for all skin types so don’t be surprised if your partner swipes this one for their own use.

Follow up the Minéral 89 with the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer. This moisturizer is rich but not too heavy. As part of the Toleriane line, it’s well-suited for people with sensitive skin.

Last, but certainly not least, sunscreen is arguably one of the most important steps in any skincare regimen. If you are doing this mini-facial at the start of the day, it’s critical that you include it in the process. The Anthelios Ultra Light Fluid Facial Sunscreen SPF 60 by La Roche-Posay is a lightweight and matte formulation that doesn’t feel greasy or look shiny once applied. Besides protection, it also preps your skin for makeup application, if you happen to be putting any on that day.

All the La Roche-Posay products are available at Starlite Pharmacies, Superpharm and Excellent Stores and you can grab these Vichy products at Pennywise outlets.
