Stay pampered while you stay at home: Pedicure
It’s been two months now since non-essential businesses closed their doors to the public, all in an effort to help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease in the country.
One of the areas where some have felt it the hardest though is with the closure of businesses within the beauty industry.
For those of us accustomed to regular services, there have been no professional waxes, pedicures, manicures, facials or haircuts given since March 30, and boy, does it show.
Loop News reached out to Dana Tuitt, master aesthetician and owner of Sinnamon Skin Klinik and Rejuvenation Centre, to get some advice on how we can maintain our beauty routines while we stay at home and stay safe.
In this video we get tips on how to give ourselves a pedicure at home, using the Voesh Pedi in a Box and Essie Gel Couture.
The Voesh Pedi in a Box Hemp Relax is infused with hemp-derived cannabis sativa seed oil and organic virgin olive oil so it’s incredibly moisturising and calming. After weeks without a pedicure, you will appreciate how soothing this formulation is.
And just in case you were worried, Hemp Relax doesn’t contain THC so it’s non-psychoactive.
You’ll want to use the sea salt soak for at least ten minutes but try to take your feet out before they get too pruney.
After that, pat your skin dry and apply your sugar scrub. Be gentle and let the scrub work its magic. If you need some extra exfoliation, go in with the foot file of your choice but try not to over-scrub your feet as that can cause irritation and burning.
Wash off the sugar scrub and dry off again before applying your detoxifying mud masque. This step really helps to deep cleanse any impurities, much like a mud mask for your face.
The last step, and everyone’s favourite, has to be the massage. The Voesh Pedi in a Box includes a hydrating massage butter to round off your at-home pedicure. Make sure you give your legs a deep massage to improve circulation and lock in that additional moisture.
Next up, file and buff your nails, paying attention to the shape and length of the nail.
The crowning glory of your at-home pedicure will be the Essie Gel Couture polish. No base coat is required for this polish since the colour has a built-in base coat. Apply two coats of the colour to ensure you get the proper colour pay off and then finish it off with the platinum grade finish top coat. This top coat gives you the long-lasting effect of gel polish so your colour remains vibrant and flawless for at least two weeks.
The Voesh Pedi in a Box and Essie Gel Couture line are available at Starlite Pharmacies, Superpharm, Excellent Stores and Kappa Drugs.
