Toddler shot in head to make full recovery

The firearm which was used to shoot a four-year-old boy in Maloney on Friday has yet to be discovered.

Over the weekend, Maloney police conducted several door-to-door searches at apartments near, and around Building 5, Maloney Gardens, where the shooting took place.

However, up to Monday afternoon, the weapon had not been located.

The four-year-old, who cannot be named because he is a minor, suffered a gunshot wound to his head.

However, police said that thankfully the injury was not life-threatening, and the toddler is expected to make a full recovery.

According to police reports, around 10.30 am on Friday, the toddler was at home with his seven-year-old brother when residents heard a gunshot.

Upon checking the seven-year-old informed neighbours that his sibling had been shot.

Residents forced their way into the home and rushed the injured boy to the Arima District Hospital, where he was treated.

Police were told that the children had been playing with a gun they had found.
